I want to sell my bands demo online... The physically CD. Does anyone have any suggestions on how they've done it?

I just want to make sure i dont have to get a licence or anything of that sort and just thinking to link it to my paypal and send the cds out myself. Is this a good idea?

This is an enormous question with hundreds of perspectives to the answers, and I really hope someone with more experience than I have can chime in with more info, but...

There are literally hundreds of outlets to market physical CDs from, and there are many companies you can work with who can take advantage of several of those at once for you. CDBaby is one such company, that markets through "cdbaby.com, Apple iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic and many more"...You set your retail price, they keep $4/CD sold, and pay you ever week. While we're at it, Kunaki offers 1-at-a-time automated professional CD duplication for $1.75/CD, whether you buy 1 or 1,000 - and they will ship to CDBaby, if you choose.

As for "license", etc., Check you local laws. If you're going to market from home and make enough money to require paying income tax on your sales, good for you...You still shouldn't need a local "business license" (usually free or a small 1-time fee, like $20) or anything like that, because people aren't coming to your "place of business", so to speak. Honestly, in this business, it's 99.99999999999999% of the time, not necessary.

Yeah - I don't think it's a big enough thing for tunecore, cdbaby or any of those things. I just want to have an avenue there to sell physical CD's online for people that might not have got one at a show or whatever. I doubt I'd make enough from it to have to pay tax but then I'm really not sure about it - or how to go about it.
