Members seraphim7s
Just bought my gf a second hand Yamaha YFL-211 for Xmas Trouble is, it's a bit dirty and I feel bad presenting her with anything less than shiny and gleaming - so what do I do? (I am not a flautist btw, I am a bassist!)
Members Lambros
Any two layer silver polishing cloth will do and you can find them in music stores that sell brass and woodwinds. This fluteis silver plate over nickel and perhaps some brass in certain areas.
Members Alan1123
+1 Don't use polish (the paste stuff) - just the siver cloth. You'll be amazed how well it'll shine up. While you're at the Music Store, you might want to pick up a silk swab. In the Flute Case there should be a long brass rod with a slot in the end. If that is missing - you could see if the store has one as well. Your GF is lucky!
Members sunburstbasser
Look at the separate parts, especially inside, to make sure the interior is clean. You can use pipe cleaners to get some of the residue out from around the rods, springs and pads without any disassembly.
