I guess this is the most appropriate place to ask.

My band is looking at getting a few decent mics, the ones we are using now are just the cheap phillips brand ones you get at walmart for $8

we were looking at these

They seem to get good reviews

we have like a 200 watt pa system that we are just using in our storage facility for practice. 2 cabs 4 12s each.

i know shure is good so what about these too.

I've never tried those mics before. I have the Shure SM58, which I use for vocals, but I don't know how those mics compare.

You can try asking on the Live Sound Forum or Recording Forum. Someone there might know about the mics.

i think you will be happier in the long run if you spent a little more for better mics. i haven't tried those particular mics but i have heard bad things about shure pg series.

as far as inexpensive mics i have a cheap gls es58 and it's decent. better then expected. i've used it before at some practices and house party gigs and it worked/sounded fine. its a copy of shure sm58. i also have one of their es57's which i have used for vocals and micing amp but my shure sm57 and audix I-5 are better mics imo. here is a 3 pack http://www.speakerrepair.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=genem&Product_Code=37-205x3&Category_Code=microphones

here are some reviews

there was a good deal a while ago of ev pl80a which was $150 for 3 of them. you can probably grab a few used good mics for not too much. senn 835's sell used for cheap and are solid workhorse mics.

as far as what i usually use i've mostly been using my rode m1 for vocals. before i got that mic i was mostly using my audix i-5 for vocals. other band mates mostly use their shure sm58's.
