  1. Well whatever works for you. I personally don't consider a duo a band so I wouldn't probably care to watch you guys for more than a few minutes. We work as much as we want summer being the busy season. We all have day jobs and we only play one bar and we are the top paid band there. I had one gig this summer where my cut was $1500.00 and we are a 4 piece band. I usually average about $350-400.00 a gig.

I used to be like that. But I found that if I play what they want to hear, I get booked more often. We average 15 to 20 gigs per month.

I play songs they know by heart. I do some like the record, some similar to the record and some an entirely different arrangement/rhythm/style.

I see what works or doesn't work for my audience, and learn from that experience. Since 1985, we have never been out of work, and actually have to block out weeks in advance to take a vacation.

Well we play what our audience wants to hear also. We have one summer gig that we have played for over 20 years probably about 300 times total. We have 2 Christmas parties booked both are repeat customers. If they want Christmas songs we will play some off our phone during a break.

  3. My band of 25 years had our best paying year in 2021 after having only 2 gigs in 2020. Hoping this year will be great also. My band leader and a guitar player both had covid a few weeks ago. We were booked to play a gig this afternoon but had to cancel because the BL is having trouble singing. Hopefully he will get better or maybe we will be through as a band.

It's not much worse than the flu. The news media is portraying it to be so. People who have had the vaccine are faring worse and so far close to a million Americans have already died after getting the poke. Let's stop obsessing over this disease and use the space to communicate about music and music related topics.

So about 843,000 covid deaths in the US so far and you say close to a million have died after getting the poke. Link to your bullcrap claims

I had a 125 years ago and it's a pretty strong sounding amp. Record your shows and listen back to how your voice and guitar mesh together. I have an EnCore 300 and it's wonderful! However, my new E V Evolve 30 doesn't have phantom power so I am using a cheaper E V Cobalt mic right now that works decent.

The evolve 30 has phantom power on channels 1 -4

  6. I just bought a second evolve 30m a few weeks ago. During the summer we play 2 guest ranches each week. The plan now is next summer to use the 30s at one ranch and the 50s at the other.

  7. I own the evolve 30 and it sounds really good to me. For a solo or duo they would be a good choice. I also own a pair of evolve 50s that my 4 piece band uses at a weekly gig and they work very well. Watts don't mean crap. Look for the Max SPL number if you want to know how loud they will be. The evolve is louder and has a better mixer than the mackie.

Thanks to all for the great advice and suggestions.
I THINK I have it narrowed down to the Maui 11 G2, or the Bose L1 Pro 8.
All things being equal, I would most likely buy the Bose, but I can’t be sure that the Bose will be loud enough cover 60-100 people sitting on a restaurant patio.
the specs say it produces a max of 118dB to the Maui’s 124, but who knows whether that is accurate or not.

The electro voice evolve 30 I mentioned earlier is on sale for the same price as the bose pro 8. It has a better mixer and and has a max spl of 123 db. The bose doesn't list the spl because it probably sucks.

    Thanks.

It went well. The person who booked us told us everybody loved us, and we'll definitely be back next season (it was a going away party for the winter residents at a mobile home park). The dance area was full, we had a dozen or so requests and knew all but one, and at the end of the night while we were packing out, quite a few of the residents made it a point to stop by and tell us how much they loved the music.

Being a pool party for senior citizens, we did a couple of Jimmy Buffett songs, a couple or reggae songs, and a lot of pop hits from the 1950s to the 21st century.

It was hot, we were sweaty, the 2.5 hours went by much too quickly (there were hundreds of songs we didn't get to play), we went home tired (a good kind of tired) took showers and at the end of the day felt it was a very good day.

We're planning on learning the request we didn't know.

We're getting some other bookings for next season as well.

    Notes

Be sure and let us know how WAP goes over.😀
