Hey all… it’s been about 10 (?) years since I’ve been on here but finally dusting off the axe and looking to get back at it.
Hopefully you can give me some good recommendations for what I’m looking for, I’ll try and be as specific as I can because I would imagine there are so many more options out there from the last time I was in the game.
Needs to have:
-1/4” input jack (just kidding 🤪)
-Good quality headphone jack audio - I’m going to be playing 75% with headphones and 25% without headphones. When playing without headphones it will be playing along with some TV audio. So there’s no need to size your recommendations based on jamming with bands or other guitarists.
-Aux input for audio (backing track) play-along with headphones. Would be nice if there was a master aux input volume control BUT I can totally just use my phone / table volume to mix. The input itself is most critical.
-Good clean, crunch & overdrive tones (both playing through headphones and playing without). No need for Djent or Heavy metal distortion.
-Good FX loop - will be using FX (if not already built in)
-Budget $1,000 (used).
Nice to have, but not 100% needed:
-Built-in FX with memory / stored presents that are foot-controllable (I can always invest in external FX unit in the future).
-At least 2 channels - clean dirty with foot control
Does not matter:
-Combo or Head + Cab
-Looks of amp
-Tube / SS / modeling - so long as it doesn’t sound overly “processed” or artificial and the headphone / live sounds are good quality.
-Direct line out recording capabilities
