Check out Rivera's offerings. They are super cool amps that you can pick up used within your budget. I have played maybe 4 or 5 of their models (some of which I don't think are made anymore) and they were all super cool and very usable. Definitely a working musician's amp. Can definitely get them for below $1000 used.
