  2. Originally posted by Ultrahighgain OK...I'll give it my best shot. Being a Christian really has nothing to do with going to a certain chruch, or reading and memorizing the Bible, or saying a bunch of Hail Marys. It has nothing at all to do with any of this "outward appearance" that we normally associate with "religion" or "religious people." Remember that the Pharases we very religious men, and Jesus pretty much tore them a new one. For the purpose of discussion, consider that "religion" and "faith" are two different things. A man can be very "religious" and not come close to God at all. Being a Christian is about putting Jesus first in your life, NOT the church, the Virgin Mary, and not religious dogma. A new Christian is "reborn" as they say when they accept that Jesus was the son of God, lived amoung man for a time, lived a perfect, sinless life and then was crucified and died on the cross for our sins, after which he rose again...but you already know this story I'd imagine. A Christian grows as they learn more about Jesus' nature and try to become more like him. Oh, and just because someone uses the phrase "born again" does not mean that they are directly referring the the "Born Again Christian" affiliation...different meanings. The Old Testament isn't really invalid, it illustrates over and over again that man cannot save himself from death which is the penalty of sin...you know blood sacrifices and all the silly rules about diet and such? All of the OT is a demonstration over and over again that man cannot right himself with God on his own. So back to the point...how can you tell if someone's a Christian or not? At a glance you can't. Anyone can claim to be anything. Anyone can believe themselves to be anything. A real Christian has a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, an intimate, trusting close relationship, and it's that that defines a Christian. The world is filled with liars and deceivers that have used the church and used God's name to manipulate others and to do evil, but God sees the heart and the soul, and in the end His judgement will prevail. Christians read the Bible to learn more about God's nature. Just reading it and regurgitating a bunch of dogma is pointless. Good post.
  3. The old testement is also irrelivent now, you know what Christians believe you're smart you know why. People also drove around on horse and buggies back then, and bloodletting was "cutting" edge for disease.
  4. The history you bring up is irrelivent, different times, different group of people.
  5. Lets not forget about drawing conclusions for us all also.
  6. I personally don't dig Catholics beliefs, what bit I know of them anyways. I don't like organized religion at all, Christians are just Christians, that's it, it's not a religion, it's a personal relationship with Jesus. Catholics are NOT all Christians. I'm curious what Christian values are so bad I've heard referance to several times now, please list them out for me.
  7. My "agenda" here is freedom, freedom for all, not just freedom in context of what conservative christains want. No your' agenda is to demonize all christians by smearing them individually and as a whole group every chance you get, mostly by being ignorant and trying to draw parallels between Christianity and things you know people will see as bad, like Islamic fundamentalist states.Oh and keep mixing truths and half truths with a little bit of twisting/lieing. Keep telling only the parts of storys/history that you want people to hear. Good job! Tell the same lie over and over and eventually people WILL start to believe it. I'm not a homosexual or a satanist, although the way you mention it implies that there is something wrong with either one I didn't mean to imply anything I was just seeing the depth of, or what the root of your' beliefs are. Like I was saying I'm really enjoying your' posts.
  8. indespise I guess Christians are terrorrists to you... seems you're so afraid of them......hahaha,..dude, I'll tell my grandma and her friends to stop harrassing you! Watch out for those deadly church raffles and bingo.....you clearly have a specific agenda going on, what are you a homosexual Satanists or something? Man I love you you're funny as hell, keep on posting ...
  9. I can only take so many bigoted mouth-breathing almost-comical "patriots" before I start to get sleepy. A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own. Sounds like a lot of you.
  10. I can see why you wouldnt want to see a US flag burned. But dont forget that you fight for the freedom of all Americans. Not just the ones you like or the ones you agree with. It also saddens me that you currently agree on the gay issue with the very people we are fighting against in the middle east. And dont forget that a good number of men and women who are in the armed forces, who fight along side you, are gay and serve their country I haven't forgot that. We all do defend everybody in the country when asked to. I don't agree with guys humping guys, so what, that's my opinion. What because these other religions also don't agree with being homo's I'm supposed to feel bad? Yeah I know there are homo's in the military, so? What's that meen I have to agree with being a flamer now? I don't want to beat up homo's, I just don't agree with it, or think it's "natural" as the argument was earlier.
  11. they're off on some vague imperialist mission that does not benefit me in the slightest. Get back to me when the military is actually doing something worth any respect. ON to the topic of your' personal life based off of what you just said -Attention anyone who believes this guy is there friend, he only respects you when you do things that benefit him, don't bother him until you can do something for him-
  12. Get back to me when the military is actually doing something worth any respect I really wish I lived next to you so we could hang out sometime. Hey maybe we do live close enough, I'm in S.E. Connecticut, where are you at friend.
  13. Banning it under US law will do nothing but strip of us of our freedom of speech rights, the most important right we have It's not possable to strip all of our freedom of speech rights by makeing flag burning illegal, that makes no sense to me. The only thing it strips you of is the right to burn U.S. flags.
  14. Banning it under US law will do nothing but strip of us of our freedom of speech rights, the most important right we have Prove it.
  15. We think banning flag-burning undermines this I understand that perfectly, but I still think that act should be illegal. That act really should be an exeption, I don't care if you call George Bush an asshole on CNN or write a book about how much you love sucking other guys penisis or whatever, but I feel flag burning should be an exeption, and if I see someone doing it in my presence, I will make sure they regret it.
