  2. who cares about the flag or the country patriotism is the biggest crock of {censored} ever concocted.
  3. Enough of this crap already, Mesa would reissue it if it's profitable for them. They see a greater potential in developing the roadking and rectifier line, I think.
  4. Man, Angelo is setting a terrible example for kids, his stuff just ain't good guitar playing. The kid's got some chops for 15 though, all he needs is taste.

It is nearly $600 new, plus shipping from Canada plus it comes WITHOUT tubes. There's another 50, if you're lucky and more if you're picky. I had NOS mullard EL34 and telefunken 12ax7's in it and they cost me over $150 altogether. That meant I had $750 into it. Sound Quality: 5 This amp was initially billed as high gain, low wattage. I found it to be high fizz, no ballage. Where's the bottom end? Even on the sound clips on the HC forum, you can hear that it's thin. Who's fooling whom, here? I have a real hard time believing these other reviews. Marshall tone? Half as loud as a 100 watter? In theory, maybe, but not in my living room. I have a 100 watt marshall 59 SLP and this amp did not sound similar. Not nearly. Not remotely. Reliability: N/A I didn't own it long enough. Customer Support: N/A Overall Rating: 6 Anybody who can try this next to a univalve or Allen class act will see the difference immediately. Like I said in my first post, I sold mine to a friend. Maybe he'll like it. I did not. Well I guess that's the final word on Peters amps And you think Diezels sound like Crates. If there's one thing a person should learn on HCAF, its that you should take the opinions of idiots on the internet with more than a few grains of salt.
  7. Originally posted by pulse765 So if everyone agrees that no one makes amps like they used to, why doesn't someone start? Are custom-shop hand-wired Hiwatts that are made today that much worse than the ones that were made in the 70's? -K I don't think anyone agrees other than the fringe vintage nutcases. I'd say almost all current amp makers who know their craft make better amps than were made 30 or 40 years ago. Back then, they used crap parts like carbon comp resistors, they were often wired messily, had less features, tones, etc.
  8. Originally posted by DeathMonkey For the record, Bruno amps SOUND amazing. I dunno what the fuck goes on inside em, but what comes out of em is fucking bitchin. I personally don't care if those ARE chicken guts inside slain with the Vorpal Blade of Kthulu, roasted in the Blood of Bloody Eternity and sauced with the Big Doomy Burrito of The New Lamb, anyone want to give me THEIR Bruno, I'll take it. But I have considered getting a tattoo of those Hiwatt innards. Yeah, but for the price they sell at I don't think its too much to expect good worksmanship as well... just my opinion.
  9. Originally posted by SKYNETRP "Of all time" is a mighty bold statement my friend. And the boutique builders are all going back to PTP building. But I didn't post here to get into the age old arguement about PTP verses PCB. Alll 4 of my amps are PCB and I love them, but I definitely still admire the late 60's 100 watt point to point Marshalls........best amp ever built besides Hiwatt. Every new high powered amp today still emulates the 60's Marshalls sound, and then they add a bunch of new sounds too.. I am considering gettting myself a Bogner, especially after hearing the ones used on RS INXS...........incredible sound. One more thing....if you took the best amp out there today built with PCB, and rewired them PTP (if that is possible), it would sound even better. Boutique builders have very rarely used PCBs, it's inpractical to use for the quantities of amps they produce, and their simplicity. Has everyone on the internet been completely brainwashed by this stupid PTP myth?
  10. For the last fucking time, THERE IS NO TONAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PCB AND PTP well, assuming they are both well-designed. An amp's tone is 99% in the circuit design and the parts.
