And it would cost an arm and a leg . . . Yeah, it's just a matter of having enough ROOM for all that stuff in the chassis if it's PTP at that point. From what I recall, Jeff's amp has two completely separate preamps.
  2. Originally posted by carlygtr56 I have no argument with you. I like non master volume amps AND channel switchers....PTP or PCB....never a factor with me. I do believe with a non master Marshall Plexi style amp, I'd prefer PTP. Far as I know, there are NO PTP channel switchers? Dismissing pedals as a way of getting sounds is plain dumb. Jeff Seal has a former 2210 that he ripped the guts out of, replaced them with his own circuit, complete with channel switching. It's PTP. Just takes a lot of work.

  5. Originally posted by Bob Savage Wrong, they would have sucked through the POS PCB amps of today. Well, then. It's settled.
  6. Originally posted by carlygtr56 Jeff Beck, Hendrix, Page, Iommi, yeah, they were wrong? Eh, bear in mind that PCB technology in amps didn't even become prevalent until after these guys made their mark. I have a feeling that they would have sounded just as amazing no matter what amps they were playing. Plus, last time I saw Jeff Beck he was using a TSL100, and his tone was awesome.
  7. Originally posted by DeathMonkey For the record, Bruno amps SOUND amazing. I dunno what the fuck goes on inside em, but what comes out of em is fucking bitchin. I personally don't care if those ARE chicken guts inside slain with the Vorpal Blade of Kthulu, roasted in the Blood of Bloody Eternity and sauced with the Big Doomy Burrito of The New Lamb, anyone want to give me THEIR Bruno, I'll take it. But I have considered getting a tattoo of those Hiwatt innards. Yeah, that's a good point. Those Brunos sound fucking killer. My 2-Rock Custom Reverb also sounded freaking amazing, and it wasn't exactly the nicest amp to look at.
  8. Originally posted by SKYNETRP "Of all time" is a mighty bold statement my friend. And the boutique builders are all going back to PTP building. But I didn't post here to get into the age old arguement about PTP verses PCB. Alll 4 of my amps are PCB and I love them, but I definitely still admire the late 60's 100 watt point to point Marshalls........best amp ever built besides Hiwatt. Soldano SLO Uberschall Bogner Ecstasy (all variations) the Rectifier Series the Mark Series the Fuchs amps and tons more. Do you realize how much of a pain in the ass it is to create a really flexible switching amp without some kind of PCB? I don't know where you get the idea that "all the boutique builders are moving back to PTP" I've owned a ton of amps, also. Just listen to the amp. As long as it sounds great to you and is durable, it doesn't matter if they made it out of Laffy Taffy. I will say that I prefer PTP amps because they're generally easier to repair (As long as they're neatly laid out. I can think of quite a few ptp amps that are still a royal pain to work on.)
  9. Originally posted by SKYNETRP Is that the Mesa? I see an aweful lot of PCB in there.......... My money says it's an Uberschall. PCB... so what? Many (if not most, now) of the best amps of all time were PCB.
  10. Originally posted by Dave Owens jeff..is this your work.???. (if it is..its real nice !!! )... Not only is his work neat and VERY unobtrusive, I'll be the first to say that Jeff's mods sounds fan-fucking-tastic.
  11. Originally posted by BenoA You don't happen to think... LTE's CD are better than the ones from DT... Even Petrucci, his playing sounds better on both LTE CD... They rock! I feel Petrucci really just "let go" during the LTE sessions. His playing sounds a lot more ballsy, and his ideas are really fresh. Also, I don't have to endure Dream Theater's singer.
  12. LTE is in heavy heavy rotation at my house. Great stuff. Keeps me interested
