  1. There were several set-neck Ibanez LP ripoffs that were actually good guitars. The bolt-neck ones are extremely hit and miss and, even in the case of a good one, not worth more than $250.

  2. I played a whole ass-load of used Gibson LP's before (and since) getting mine and they were 90% solid/swiss-cheese guitars. Apart from one lady-LP - it was a metallic pink Les Paul Custom that had mini-hums and was a bit thinner than a normal one - I didn't like any as much as mine. Of course, mine might not sound very much like a typical Les Paul. All I know for sure is that it gives me what I'm looking for when I want a guitar that sounds like a Les Paul.
