Oh, I agree. I didn't mean all 3 amps necessarily. And I agree that I should be able to get there with the 5150 and the MKIV...

The UL is at your disposal, and since it only takes a few minutes to record, we can add some presence and treble next time I'm over, and re-do it.

    :thu:

Sounds good... I just have this feeling that there is some mix/combination of these amps that will sound amazing, but at this point, I like the individual amp clips better than the combination one we did friday...

Wow... So you like the MKIV better than the 5150II... Interesting...

I like the 5150II best as currently recorded, but I think with more high end, I'd like the VHT UL best...

Must be that custom covering job throwing you off.

I believe it is the custom covering...

Ok, so then you got 'em right, correct? Which did you like best again?

It is so hard to remember now and we were mostly listening to combinations of amps, except for the UL which we recorded first. I dunno man... I just panned the two different tracks or each amp/mic left and right, got decent levels, and bounced to disk. What you are hearing in these clips sounds like what I just heard in the Mackies when I was bouncing these earlier today...

  7. :D

    Ok, too funny...

    The results:

    Clip 1 = 5150II rhythm channel boosted w/modded TS-9

    Clip 2 = MKIV

    Clip 3 = VHT UL

Now... I don't like Clip 2 either, but I will say in fairness that I think the MKIV is capable of MUCH better. Didn't spend much time tweaking it, but I can hear things I think could be fixed easily...

Clip 1 and 3 sound close. I think the VHT would have gotten even more votes if it'd had more high end. It seems to have more overall girth to me...

Congrats to DanielRaible who posted the correct answers. That and $0.25 will getcha a cup of coffee... ;):D

    Thanks for playing, fellers...

I have to agree with you there. The clarity (or lack thereof) of the amps on those trem picked sections certainly tells me something...

Next time, if you can, post something with less blblblbllblblblblblblblblb style picking and more chords or something.
    :)
It's really hard to tell what's going on if the guitarist doesn't stop much.

Now that wouldn't be very metal would it? :D

Thanks! You can thank Bob for the Reverb settings, but honestly I wish you hadn't noticed it... I guess I need to drop it in the mix a bit...

  11. Ok, here's another experiment. I have here three clips of part of one tune. Each clip is the exact same thing reamped through a different amp. The amps used were:

    Mesa Mark IV

    5150II (Rhythm channel boosted w/modded TS9)

    VHT UL

Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to match each clip to the amp it was recorded with and tell me which you prefer and why...

And, yes, I know the drums suck. They are just there for mix reference...

And yes, I know one of the clips was gated too aggressively with my Decimator on the stops, but I couldn't fix it with out reamping again and I don't have time now...

    The clips:

    Have fun...

I don't see why a basswood bodied gitfiddle with a Floyd wouldn't be capable of crushing sounds...

  13. I assume we're talking about a street fight here and not some lame boxing match right? I say Bon Jovi would kick the {censored} out of those pansy Europe guys. Bon Jovi is from New Jersey. Enough said...
