    define 'best'....

a thousand dollars or euros or pounds?

    your best shot:

    [£1000] T486 or T386....

[$ or €] on the used market.

Which of the those 2 T models do you rate more? And would you rate both more so than the guild starfire IV?

  2. I'm flickering between an epi casino & a Guild starfire 1 (maybe an IV although that's more expensive)

However, went to try a couple of starfires today. One had fret buzz and the other had high action & maybe a warp in the neck? Maybe? Might just of needed a truss rod altercation? But it turned me off.

It was the green one with the Bigby. But it's a bonnie guitar.

It's for pure personal use. Possibly some home recording.

  3. Presently, I'm looking at:

An Epi Casino (with Pro p90s).

    A Guild firestar 1.

    Gretch G2622T

    Or any other suggestions?

Can send yourself mental going round in circles.

Was originally just going to go for the casino but started getting sidetracked.

The Guild interests me as does the D'ANGELICO DC Excel?

    Anyways...

  4. I'm a, feet up, watching the TV player & the last guitar I bought was a Guild Gad 50 some 15 years ago? That was the best budget/mid range available at that time along with the Epiphone masterbilt range.

Basically I'm looking to buy another guitar.  What is the current best budget/mid range out there?

Around the £500 $700 range. Couple of hundred leeway.

    Thanks for any help.

  5. My boy is a good guitarist. He's currently studying music production at university.

He was after a Hofner budget violin bass (just to have a bass at hand. He's not a bass player).

I was hoping someone could recommend a model (& accompanying amp). Looking at about or upto £400 $500 for the bass.

As said it's not a principal instrument. But it should be playable.

    Thanks for any help.

  6. Basically, I'm after a compact budget bass for occasional use in a home recording set up.

I saw some decent reviews for some of the short scale Ibanez.

Was wondering if any cats here had pawed one & your thoughts.

As said, it's for occasional use. Not for live performance. I like the idea of short scale so it's easy to store.

So, do they play okay for that purpose?

  7. I refer to an ex girlfriend as a c... In a song, HOWEVER! I refer to myself, too, as a c... In the same song.

And it's not a specific ex, it's more of an amalgamation of different ex girlfriends.

    The song is called: She's A C...

Nevertheless, I don't think it will upset the neo PC brigade, I don't think folk will find it offensive, because, the lyrics of the song paint a clear picture of mutual discontent, ergo, equality.

Also, the lyrics are in both English & French, so, it's also educational.

I think I'm safe with this one.

Plus! In Scotland, whilst, c..., Can be offensive, it's never used in a misogynistic manor.

    I think I'm safe.

But! I dunno. The phrase, she's a c..., does come up a lot in the song. It's the principal lyric of the verses, chorus & middle 8th.

  8. Kirk Shuffle & The Death Mask Five, will be a neo retro romantic rock/punk/garage/folk/shed outfit that will place simple melody & lyrics back at the heart of instrument led popular music.

We will place, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, The Smiths, The Go-Go's, Dick Gaughan, Elvis, Gloria Jones, The Monkees & Frank Sidebottom into a blender, turning it on & up to FULL POWER, then pouring the resulting musical slurry into your ears.

    Interested?

Get back to me here. In this post.

Our first song is already written. It's called: She's A C...

It's an Anglo-French brush with punk/soft romantic rock.
