  1. So, I have decided to build one of my favorite amps ever, the Marshall SLP 1959 100 watt. I have found many schematics online, but I would feel better if I could get some more advice on parts and schematics. I haven't found a schematc that had a parts list or anything of that nature yet, does anyone know where I could find a good, reliable, schematic that is preferably with american standard symbols rather than british. Any help would be much apreciated.
  2. I have played guitar for about 6 years and I would now like to start playing mandolin. Can anyone suggest a good mandolin for me to start off with? One that is a good price for a quality mandolin. Thanks!
  3. . What's funny is our MP3 player song list when we go on road trips! I think the best thing that happened to my kids from hearing all types of music is that they learned to listen. I find that when people are allowed to learn and experience things, in moderation, they tend to be able to make better choices in general and everyone gets along much better.
  4. Unless you mean rock that was recorded after 1978. No kid should be forced to listen to Peter Frampton and Boston all day. Classic Rock and Blues are the music of the living dead. so where did all those bands that recorded post 1978 draw inspiration from?
  5. "One ticket for the show in Charlotte, N.C., sold for $2,565." Holy hell! at this point you have to wonder why daddy's paying so much for that family pack when he doesn't even like the CD.
  6. I just find it funny that they are comparing something like this to something like The Beatles. But I agree, this doesn't threaten music as we musicians know it. Unless the fans are the only reason you play, then music will hopefully continue to grow and the mainstream stuff will start having more and more actual instrumental talent. But don't worry, 15 years from now we'll see this girl doing the comments on VH1 or something like that and be like "who the hell is that?". Disney has been making a killing on stuff like this though. Last week the "high school musical - on ice" tour was in hampton and caused major traffic.
  7. I already have, I'll hopefully have some pictures up on monday.
  8. They're Alnico V pickups. Keep them in there long enough to learn to appreciate them. I changed the tuners cuz I think the green looks stupid. Other than that, a great guitar. And in your case, a great price! Looks great in the MF SG case for $39 too. Thanks, What did you change the tuners to? I was thinking about locking grovers, not sure about color though, probably chrome. That very case is already on it's way.
  9. Wow. Right over the top of your head. Better get some tampons while you're out. I think your period's coming. you may want to read that quote one more time, and the one I wrote shortly afterwards. I knew that you were just trying to be a smart ass, but my point was that I'm asking a serious question.
  10. I think the p'ups in it are the epi version of 57 classics, can't really tell until monday. I won't be near my amp until then, but this thing is definitely hot looking and has great action out of the box.
  11. very true, sorry to get short, just don't really like BS.
  12. nice try buddy. If they are so horrible why are you willing to pay me more than I will pay for it. Jealousy is not very befitting.
  13. I'll buy it, what's your number? Seriously, gold tops are cool and SGs are cool, so best of both worlds! I'm not selling it I'm buying it. I have already decided to buy it. Now I would just like to hear what people think of it, pros and cons. what people have changed, if they have changed anything. I just pulled it out of he box and played it, the neck is smooth as can be. I can't wait to plug this baby in! I have a pair of burstbuckers I pulled out of another guitar not long ago, I may put them in it, if needed.
  14. I have been offered this guitar for $150. It is not a second, and has not, to my knowlegde, been played. It still has the plastic on the p'ups and pickguard, and has been kept in the box it came in for quite a while. The orignial owner got it for his son as a present, only to find out his son had already bought a epi 66 sg and did not want this one. What can you guys tell me about this guitar. I haven't had a chance to sit down and play it. How does it sound and play? Thanks, Will
