  1. Here is the problem with everyone not "getting" Eddie Van Halen.

Van Halen music was designed to be played LOUD!

Go put mean street on, or unchained, or eruption/you really got me,, or hot for teacher, or running with the devil, or Ice Cream Man, or beautiful girls , or Panama, or Jamies cryin, etc, on, and turn it up LOUD!

And THEN tell me Eddie is not the greatest of all time.

    I dare you.

    Can't do it, can you?

    Huh, huh, can you?

    I didn't think so!

  2. Well, looks like it is unanimous so far.

By the way, y'all, I'm pretty sure the non communication comment was a spinoff from another current thread in which everyone is laughing at a guy who keeps insisting that there is absolutely zero form of communication of any kind happening in any form of music in existence. It is taking place in the ear vrs. Theory thread. Pretty entertaining stuff.

    Anyway, now back to Eddie!

Oh Eddie! I want to have your baby!

    Love, Dave.

  3. Start with 1000. Got to 1500. Then go with rubbing compound followed by polishing compound. With the polishing compound I like to use a Powerball. Then use Kit car wax. It's mostly carnuba with a light scratch remover. Just make sure you don't take it into the sunlight without shades, It WILL shine like a new dime on a goat's ass!

The only thing I would add to this is to make damn sure you have enough of a thickness of clear on there, or youll sand through it. you are probably OK, if you indeed did get "a bunch" of coats on there, also, 1000 grit is right to start with, but I would go to 1200, and then to 1500, and then you could polish as mentioned, or you could keep going up a couple more grits. from 1500 to 2000, and then from 2000 to 2500. It will just make the finished product that much more smooth, but you certainly could start polishing after 1500. It will just take more polishing and buffing to get it ultra glossy if that is your intention.

  4. I used to be an increadibly, devilishly handsome and good luoking dude, but then I got this tattoo of some average regular Joe shmo's face tattooed right on to my own face. Now I just look like that regular dude.

Im thinking of having it removed.

  5. Anyone interested in carbon fiber picguards?

I can make these for any guitar.

also can do fiberglass picguards with any wood veneer top of your choice too.

No need to use expensive C.F. cloth if it is not going to be visible under a veneer. Would use less expensive fiberglkass cloth in that case.

They would run about 40.00 to 50.00 a piece for most guitars.

Probably cant do it for less than that because it would COST me money in that case.

Just wondering if there is any interest?

Like I said, I can do any veneer wood picguard you would like, they would be laminated on top of a super sturdy fiberglass cloth base, and also, I could do a fiberglass base picguard with ANY particular fabric with ANY particular design in the fabric you would like.

    The possibilities are endless.

Just find a fabric print you love, and I can turn it into a hard durable rigid and long lasting picguard with that design embedded in the resin.

Can do other guitar parts too if youd like.

Truss rod covers, control cavity covers, full laminations of bodies, etc.

All work would be 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed and all parts would be perfect as far as fit, finish, bevels, routs screw hole alignment etc.

I can also do any standard pickguard material, like three ply black white black fender stylke, pearloid mother of toilet seat, tortoise shell, white one or three ply, anything you want. Let me know if there is something you are having trouble finding, and I will make it for you.

Let me know if you are interested.

  6. Great thread. It'll be very helpful when I get to the step of choosing a paint. Unfortunately I already stripped it to bare wood on the front and back.

Well stripping it to bare wood certainly wpnt hurt anything, it is just extra work. So it is not neccessarily "unfortunate", but you are right about not taKING ANY KIND OF POWER ANDERS TO THE CURVES. iT WILL BE ALOT OF WORK TO REMOVE THOSE AREAS BY HAND AND YOU MAY FIND IT IS NOT even NECCESARY.

OOps. Sorry about the caps. Too lazy to fix it.
