  1. How much of a difference do you think replacing the bridge humbucker on the guitar would make? My roommate knows quite a bit about all this and let me record with his PRS (Seymour Duncan humbuckers) and it sounded less muddy and more crisp (not a huge difference but definitely noticable). Of course some of it is that he's got a really nice PRS and I have a $100 POS but he claims if i got just a decent humbucker for the bridge, it'd help the recording sound better, probably the most help for the money. Any thoughts?
  2. Well is it common to mess around with the knobs and stuff for days to get the right sound? Or does this mean my equipment might not be that great?
  3. OK, please don't hate me if this is a common predicament. I've spent a few years messing with recording into my laptop. I recently got a Digitech RP250 and am recording into a few programs (Adobe Audition, Cakewalk Music Creator) via USB. I'm trying to get the guitar to sound 'good.' I'll ask a general question: I've spent months messing with settings trying to get the tone and distortion to sound respectably similar to any current metal/rock band but can't seem to get it sounding great. It either sounds muddy or like I recorded it with a cheap mic in a garage. Are there any effects I should have on or any tips on messing with things to get a decent sound? I've messed with turning on and off chorus, reverb, compression, and all the eq parameters. Does anyone use the RP250 and have a good sounding preset I could use? Any help/tips/comments are very appreciated!
