  • Hal Leonard Announces Michael Bloomfield – Legendary Licks

    By HC News |

Hal Leonard is proud to present a new book/CD pack that gives guitarists an inside look at the guitar style of the extraordinary and highly influential Michael Bloomfield, ranked in 2003 at #22 on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." Our Legendary Licks book (HL00102574 / $19.99) by Dave Celentano has just gone to press, and should be in stock by the end of February.

The Legendary Licks series presents the music of a band or artists in a comprehensive play-along package. Each book contains note-for-note transcriptions and detailed performance notes on how to play a multitude of classic licks, fills, riffs, and solos – complete with recorded demonstrations of each exercise and gear setup tips. The CD is playable on any CD player, and also enhanced so Mac & PC users can adjust the recording to any tempo without changing the pitch.

Michael Bloomfield – Legendary Licks features detailed instruction on playing 11 of his finest: Albert's Shuffle · Another Country · Born in Chicago · East West · The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) · It's My Own Fault Darlin' · Killing Floor · Texas · Wine · Work Song · You're Killing My Love.

"Mike Bloomfield is number one. Not only did he play over the top well – and I mean amazingly well – but he also played what I call 'real' guitar. If you've ever heard Mike Bloomfield, then you know what I'm talking about. It just came from his heart. I never got a chance to see him because he died at an early age, but he was a big influence on me as to the way I learned to bend strings and get everything I could out of a note. One of the best players ever.”

    – Mick Mars (Motley Crüe)
