  • Epiphone Introduces New Summer Contest

    By HC News |

Nashville, TN, August 1, 2013 – As part of Epiphone’s ongoing celebration honoring its 140th Anniversary, the renowned guitar manufacturer is giving away a Ltd. Ed. 140th Anniversary Epiphone Coronet and a signed copy of The Epiphone Guitar Book, A Complete History of Epiphone Guitars by Walter Carter. Beginning today, participants can enter by simply entering their email address on the contest web page on Epiphone’s website.

“The Anniversary Coronets are one-of-a-kind and feature a montage of historical photos from our archive,” said Epiphone President Jim Rosenberg. “And the recent publication of Walter Carter’s history of Epiphone, The Epiphone Guitar Book, has been a big hit with our fans.”

The Coronet was first produced in 1958 at the legendary Gibson/Epiphone Kalamazoo factory in Michigan and was among the first new models to inaugurate the “new” Epiphone line after Epiphone became part of the Gibson family of brands.

The Epiphone Anniversary Coronet, much like rare vintage (and now very valuable) models, is a favorite of both rhythm and lead players alike for its lightweight design, perfect balance, and roaring sound. Fans of the Epiphone Coronet include legends Paul Weller, Jimi Hendrix, Pete Doherty, Kurt Cobain, and Del Shannon who used an Epiphone Coronet on his rock and roll classic, “Runaway.”

Epiphone fans have been waiting a long time for a thoroughly researched history of Epiphone. And now, just in time for the House of Stathopoulo’s 140th anniversary, American guitar expert Walter Carter has published The Epiphone Guitar Book, A Complete History of Epiphone Guitars.

The richly illustrated 147-page history follows Epiphone through the jazz era in New York, the move to Kalamazoo, Michigan, and the modern era including the move to Epiphone's new headquarters in Nashville. And, of course, Les Paul, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Band, Marcus Henderson, Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance, and many other great artists are included in the story as well. Carter's previous works include The Gibson Electric Guitar Book and Gibson Guitars: 100 Years of an American Icon. Carter also served as the historian for Gibson Guitars.
