  • Epiphone’s 140th Anniversary a Focal Point at Summer NAMM

    By HC News |

Nashville, TN, August 1, 2013 – Epiphone recently celebrated its 140th anniversary during the music industry’s annual Summer NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) tradeshow in Nashville from July 11-13, 2013. The renowned guitar manufacturer held a weekend-long series of events showcasing artists throughout Music City, including concerts in historic downtown Lower Broadway, legendary Printer’s Alley, and an ‘open house’ welcoming party at Epiphone’s new state-of-the headquarters. The open house event welcomed Epiphone artists, fans, press, Epiphone forum members, and dealers from around the world.

“This was a very special weekend for us,” said Epiphone President Jim Rosenberg. “The celebrations not only gave us a chance to thank our artists and dealers but also our staff as well. Everyone at Epiphone is totally dedicated to making musicians around the world feel like pros when they play an Epiphone instrument. We want them to have the best.”

Summer NAMM was a pivotal opportunity for Epiphone to show off its new world headquarters, which features a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certified design and distribution center along with a one-of-a-kind collection of vintage Epiphone acoustic and electric guitars as well as Hawaiian guitars, banjos, and mandolins, some dating back to the early 1900s.

Open house visitors were greeted by a dizzying array of events including a special performance by guitar ace Jeff Waters of Annihilator; given a chance to try RocksmithTM, the innovative guitar instruction video game; participate in a silent auction featuring artist-signed Epiphone guitars; as well as a book signing by Walter Carter, author of The Epiphone Guitar Book, the recently published history of Epiphone. Epiphone also had every instrument in its catalog on display, tuned up and ready play. For Les Paul fans, a special “humbucker challenge” event provided guests the chance to check out Epiphone’s new ProBucker humbucker pickups.

“Humbuckers are at the heart of the Les Paul sound.  We’ve recently retooled and rethought our entire process for making humbuckers and came up with the Epiphone ProBucker pickup,” said Rosenberg. “We think our new ProBuckers have all the tone and range of vintage humbuckers which today are impossible to find.”

Throughout 2013, Epiphone will continue to celebrate its anniversary honoring the opening chapter of the Epiphone story which began 140 years ago. To this day, the founder of Epiphone, Epi Stathopoulo’s energy is still what drives and inspires the worldwide company to deliver professional affordable instruments everywhere—and anywhere.
