Harmony Central announces a sponsorship partnership with The John Lennon Songwriting Contest to sponsor Harmony Central’s Songwriting Workshop Forum.

“Songwriting is a fundamental element of making and sharing music.” states Harmony Central Director, Dendy Jarrett; “We believe in supporting great causes as well, and The John Lennon Songwriting Contest has become ‘the go-to’ resource for undiscovered songwriting talent. It is a great fit to have them the official sponsor of this Songwriting Workshop forum and also allows a place for people who want to hone their craft to come and share ideas. All of this helps us further our ‘make better music’ cause.”

The John Lennon Songwriting Contest began in 1997 as the brainchild of Brian Rothschild, a former songwriter and keyboard player for the band I Am Siam, and David Sonenberg, whose company manages acts that include Fergie, The Black Eyed Peas and John Legend. The two joined with John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono to form the contest and outfitted The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a non-profit 501 © (3) mobile audio and HD video recording and production facility, that provides free hands-on programs to hundreds of high schools, colleges, Boys and Girls Clubs, music festivals, concerts, conventions and community organizations throughout the country. The contest is open to amateurs and professionals who are judged based on originality, melody, composition and lyrics.
