Singapore, 11 July 2017 - As social music platform BandLab passes 1.5 million users, the BandLab team is marking this milestone by introducing a game-changing feature for users: Tip Jar. Tip Jar allows members of the BandLab community to voluntarily “tip” their favourite creators directly on the platform. This feature is another way BandLab is working to empower musicians and support the creative process - and as such BandLab will not take a single cent from these user-to-user tips.

BandLab CEO, Meng Ru Kuok is excited to offer user-to-user payments on BandLab, “With the introduction of Tip Jar, our platform now allows anyone around the world to support their favourite creators on BandLab. We want to do even more than just empower people with the tools to create and engage with their audience. This is why we are committed not to tax the support they get from their community and fans. We want to help our users develop sustainable careers as music makers, which in turn enables them to channel even more time and energy into their creativity.”

Kuok ascribes the tremendous growth of the community over the last two years to the fact that BandLab is responding and catering to the changing reality of the modern music creator. “We believe that music has made a fundamental shift from being a product to a service. At BandLab we are catering to the next generation of artists who have a myriad of ways to make and distribute their work. Their major challenge today is not distribution, but differentiation. We are providing the platform, the tools and opportunities for them to create and authentically connect with a community around their creative process - ultimately with the goal of helping them to forge creative careers,” he says.

This month BandLab is also introducing a new division, BandLab Machines, responsible for developing high quality audio hardware products. The initial product lineup consists of three audio interfaces: the BandLab Link Analog (a single input analog audio interface priced at $39.99), the BandLab Link Digital and the BandLab Link Digital Duo (digital USB audio interfaces with single and double inputs respectively).

    ● Tip Jar is an optional feature which can be activated by users through their BandLab profile and is currently available on the web platform, iOS and Android apps.

    ● All transactions are carried out through Stripe and incur the standard Stripe processing fee

    ● BandLab does not take a cut from any payment.

    ● Stripe is available in limited territories - for more information see: https://stripe.com/global

    ● Tip Jar will be rolled out in all territories where Stripe is available with more payment gateways to come. Supporters can use a Stripe account or credit card to tip, and the amount nominated will immediately be transferred into the Stripe account of their artist of choice.
