Quiet a while ago I cut out a one piece purpleheart body for a strat, then discovered that I had made it a little too stubby. I was starting to work on the strat from this thread but I got sidetracked. It was terrible! I had put a neck, loaded pickguard, and neck on top of the "future project" purpleheart body, and just got carried away.

The squier neck got refinished with amber shellac and the tuners cleaned up. (the tuners are ugly but work great surprisingly)

I did not use a neck plate, there is no need. The body is a little thinner than standard for weight reduction.

I was expecting this to sound bright and thin but it is actually very well balanced and terribly articulate. (unlike me)

Here it is: one short strat.

beautiful. i probably would have used a black pickguard or maybe tortoise shell. the white just stands out! gorgeous purpleheart.

I agree. I might do a black pickguard, shaped to better match the contours of the body.

btw, thanks all for the compliments.
