Fender Bass VI?

It is (or can be) tuned an octave lower than a normal guitar, but the strings are tuned to the same notes as on a guitar...just lower...so all the licks and chords you know are in the same place. Some say the short scale kind of makes it feel in between a bass and a guitar, but to me they always felt more like a bass than a guitar. I've only played the re-issue model, not the original version from the 60's.

My biggest complaint was the long scale (for a guitarist's feel, short for a bass player), and incredibly narrow string spacing. It was really hard to play and just felt awkward for my hands.
