hi,

what's the deal on flared slides please?

http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=87&pmh=products/slides

would guess these are designed for shaped fretboards which taper down fractionally towards the edge of the neck. and equally have a nut which dips down towards the top and bottom strings?

opinions appreciated ;)

thanks

Keerect ...

And they're also good for playing single-string lead lines and isolating individual strings within a slid chord. My main slides all have that 'coke bottle' shape ...

Even though flares are so, like, 70s revival kitsch ...

thanks csm,

this is getting good - ordered one of these off the Bay last night :) finally goy my Yamaha 311 set up 'optimal' with a slightly heavier top treble string which can bounce the slide without colliding with the frets (too much  )

my motto: never too late to learn new tricks; never too old to wear flares, as long as they're not bell-bottoms that is
