Members mike-o
Just got a new allparts neck and the fret ends are sharp. They're not sticking out of the side of the fretboard like most people seem to have a problem with, but both sides of the frets are sharp and totally unrounded, and it's pretty uncomfortable. Can i take a file to them?
Members cfgsteak
I would. Just tape your fretboard first so you don't damage it accidently.
Members Gas Hed
One of our fellow HCEGers recommended this to me for my fret end issues.http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Special_tools_for:_Fretting/Fret_End_Dressing_File.html?actn=100101&xst=3&xsr=12822 I bought one and got excellent results. The file has one smooth edge that has a radius, this helps prevent cutting into the fret board wood with the file. I had excellent results when all was said and done. Other option is to drop it off with a tech. Thing is, I was willing to accept some damage (call it character addition) with my work. Up to you.
