Members Convert
With the various string deals the past few months, I've got about a 3 year supply of strings (maybe 80 packs). Any tips on storing them so they'll be still be factor fresh in a few years? The Dean Markley's in particular are a concern as they come in those unsealed, paper envelopes. Members sylvesterlowery
I would just store them in a dry place, maybe a box with some kind of dessicant to absorb any moisture.
Members toddinjax
If they're not in a sealed, airtight environment , they WILL NOT be "new/fresh" when you use them in 2-3 years. There was an interesting article a while back in Just Jazz Guitar mag about this subject. Some guy with a Gibson Le Grand that sounded dead, he put "new" strings on it ("new" strings he'd had in his case for years - and to make things worse, he lived close to sea water) and it still sounded like dog. he shipped it back to Gibson, they checked it out structurally and put (real) new strings on. Sounded fine. Then they asked him about the strings he'd been using......
Members etawful
I have one of those "Food Saver" vacuum sealers. I just put extra strings in there. Vacuum seal them and toss them in a box. They keep for a LONG time .
