'Little Guitars' lyrics debate

In the song Little Guitars by Van Halen is David Lee Roth saying "Catch as catch" or "Etch a sketch"....it seems no one knows. Even if you google it, it either says "Catch as catch" or "Etch a sketch." WTF?

I always sing etch a sketch but never thought it was correct. I put this in the "who cares"category.

As long as it sounds good. I'm not a signer so it really doesnt effect me. Best bet is to look in a tab book and look at the lyrics.
