Recomendations on a mahogany body, maple neck strat-like guitar?

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a guitar to mod. I would be dropping humbucker-sized P90s in it and adding possibly adding some volume/tone knobs.

I originally wanted a Les Paul Special SC (mahogany body and neck, hardtail bridge, rosewood fretboard), except with the body and scale of a Strat, but because of not being able to find a cheap donor guitar, I've widened my scale a bit.

I've come to realize I really like the look of a worn black guitar body with a maple fretboard... so does anybody have any ideas for cheap donor guitars (under 400 preferably) that I could use for this?

Mahogany body, maple neck and fretboard, hardtail bridge, strat-like body and scale.

Oh, also, is the maple neck and fretboard really going to affect my sound that much compared to a mahogany neck+rosewood fretboard?
