Members Katana
I've got a Mesa Roadster head, and it's been doing this since I got it (but I haven't played it much since I haven't been in a band for some time). When I turn the amp on, it automatically is on channel 1. When I change (via footswitch) to channel 4 (highest gain channel) there's a LOUD pop sound. When I switch to the other channels it's dead silent. If I change to channel 1 (or any) after 4, nothing. If I go to channel 4 from there, nothing. It's only on THE FIRST change to channel 4. Anyone shed some light on this? Tell me if it's something to be concerned about, and the way to stop it. Thanks.
Members boxcarmonument
Nothing to be concerned about at all. It's typical of Mesas Recto line. It's static build up in the resisters used to change channels. The way I get around it is to cycle through the channels while the amp is in Standby. Members drivelikejoewho
^ For some reason it isn't letting me replay but 1) nice avatar (propagandhi) and 2) thanks for the answer because I've been having this issue too. I have a very old Dual Rectifier.. like #332 I believe so I wasn't sure if there was an issue with it but I'll give your suggestion a try.
