Members J.Paul
Had the electronics ripped out of my mexi tele and replaced w/ seymour duncans. The volume knob is scratchy and noisy but it's only noticable with medium/high gain pedals (guvnor, bb+, ocd....). It only make this sound with THAT guitar so the issue isn't the signal chain or effects. I took it to a different tech (closer to my house), they checked it out and sprayed it (contact spray I guess?) and said it should be fine. It's not. WTF?should I just throw the guitar away?start over with a THIRD tech?anyone got some insight?
Members honeyiscool
I'm going to guess that your ground wires are not attached properly from your pickups. Can you solder? Make sure you're heating the pot with a pretty hot iron, if it doesn't melt in 1-2 seconds, you're doing it wrong. If not, just get a new volume pot. It's not expensive. And really, you can get a basic soldering iron and tool kit on Parts Express for like $15 total and it'll be cheaper than a trip to the tech.
