Members jbear555 Posted July 17, 2011 Members Share Posted July 17, 2011 I brought this guitar (which I received in trade) to my friend/luthier/tech because... No sound from 0-7 on either volume pot then...almost normal but a lack of treble. Here are the facts in the case...-An SG with original pots, one Duncan Bridge PUP (not sure which one yet) and one orig. Gibson 490R. -The caps were some weird huge olive green things that looked like firecrackers. Never seen anything like them.-The caps are now changed to Orange Drops.Result...no change!He tried a different pot and even different value caps...nothin'One last thing that we are going to try next. The wiring was done with a really heavy gauge, solid-core, braided wire. We are hypothesizing that it could be the root cause. We cannot figure out what else could be doing this to the signal.
