But I can't find one to play anywhere, and in spite of posts here, I can't even find someone who has one to hear an opinion.

In case you don't know:

-Hand-wired in USA (eyelet board, not pcb)

-5E3 tweed circuit, including tube rectifier

-12" Celestion G12H30 speaker

-finger-jointed birch cabinet

I can get one of these new for a few hundred less than MF sells them for. I currently own a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, tweed edition, which means the speaker is a Jensen Alnico. It's a nice amp, but after playing a Fender '57 Deluxe the other day, I seem to be having a bit of Tweed GAS.

Talk me out of it or into it.

PS - I don't really care about the VHT/Freyette stuff. I don't know the details, since I wasn't part of the legal proceedings. I'd like to talk about the amp.

Well, you guys were no help at all!

I pulled the trigger today, it will take a while to get here. I'll report back when it arrives.

For anyone interested, I paid $504 dollars on Amazon for a new one, free shipping, no tax. $825 everywhere else. It even went down to 498 yesterday, but I waited and lost.

At this price, it is cheaper than the cheapest Tweed kits available.
