Members Amigo
I have an old late 60's early 70's SG that had been modded (a long time ago before i had it) with a hard tail bridge (pete townshend style). (sorry no pics at the moment) But this picture is basically what I have got going on Anyways, I was thinking of putting the trem back, As I'd really love to have one on it, but I'm not sure if I should. Reasons being: The guitar itself is very thin. The neck bends quite easily already, for instance, if you strum hard enough, you can hear the neck slightly bend and trem the strings. Long story short the neck is quite flimsy, the guitar is very light and I often feel I could break the thing. So I'm worried the trem system may be too hard on the guitar. I'm also concerned it will become a nightmare to keep in tune, as I intend to gig with it. Do they make vintage reissued trem systems that stay in tune better than the originals? (I don't plan on putting any holes in the body) Would any trem on this guitar even work given that the neck is already so malleable? (I'm guessing the tremolo was removed from this guitar for a reason.) Any advice would be much appreciated!
Members xrleroyx
I had a vintage SG exactly like yours. I preferred it without the trem. I put a Bad-Ass bridge on it.
Members Amigo
was it because of tuning issues?
