Members 61SG
Greetings, all.I have a chance to pick up a 26" Radio King kick for a pretty good price. I'm looking forward to giving it a go, but I am not familiar with the dating procedure. The person who is selling it does not know the year. Is there any badging or a serial number that I should be looking for? I don't know how to identify drums by year (I'm actually a guitar player - ducking flames). If anyone can help me out it would be very much appreciated. Thanks, everyone.

Yes, the style of the badge on the drum should give you an idea of the era in which it was produced....if you search thru E-Bay, you will see enough Radio King auctions with ages and descriptions of the badges, to make an educated guess.... you might also try "The Not So Modern Drummer" magazine, for useful resources for vintage drums. I have a mahagony 28" Radio King bass drum that was made in the 40's, it has the old solid brass Chicago badge... nice drum... good luck.
