Triggering software sampler

OK so I have this DM5 right ... and the sounds are like .. well to put it nicely they suck ..

On the other hand I have my nice little home studio going and I have more then one sofware sampler take for instence Native instruments battery.

I am thinking well since the sampler can trigger anything that it can damn well hear why not just use the module to trigger that .. then I can use any sound in my library that I damn well please.

So then I have 2 questions .. maybe more who knows since I am writing this on the fly ..

- Does anyone do this?

- is it effective and how hard is it since I have never attempted to try I am not all that sure.

I am just figureing why spend a buttload of bucks on one of the top end modules (witch will probably have sampling anyways) if I can just use the computer and it's free. I mean because I will never leave the studio mobility is not an issue persay

I am also figuring it has it's problems and I am just trying to see what the basic input is around here.

**insert pertinant information here**

I am running Cubase (haven't stepped up to PT yet)

Pc is pretty stout p4 3000mhtz 1gig of ram etc etc..
