Members Puck
Just seeing what everyone's prefered bass drum beater is. Brand , wood , felt , rubber ect.. And why you like it. I haven't extensively experimented with different kinds, so was wondering others opinions.
Members Ignited
I've always thought felt was a good happy medium. I used plastic beaters for a while, but I ended up going back to felt because I wanted mellower bass drum attack.
Members pjb
I use two black rubber iron cobra beaters on my DW delta 3 double, because I hate the standard DW 101 beaters.
Members HuskerDude
I have two beaters I switch out depending on the gig/song. Both felt. One is a hard, compacted felt, almost like plastic, but a little more skooshy. It get the most use on the up-tempo rock and country songs. The other is an old fluffy, soft felt ball. I use it when a little more subtlety and "vintage" feel is required. Brushes, folk and slow country, jazzy stuff, gypsy stuff. I usually don't switch them out during gigs, but in the studio, I'm going back and forth all the time.
Members rca
I play a vintage kit and used a DW beater for a while switching from plastic to felt surfaces. But then I replaced it with a standard felt beater. I guess its just what I am used to.
Members gcdrummer
I love my Danmar 'candy apple' maple beaters.
Members Snake
Iron Cobra felt usually. I tried the IC plastic/rubber, but it kind of sticks to the head when I bury the beater. I want to try the IC wood next.

Try the Danmar maple beaters. I realize you probably want to stick with the IC beaters, I did too. But the Danmar's are simply killer.
Members Puck
I have an IC pedal and like the felt beaters. I have the rubber but I hate the way they stick. I just have been playing felt for so long it feels right to me. I had been playing an old Ludwig speed king for years. Last week ordered a danmar red wood beater. So hopefully I will like it. I really liked it, but I'm liking the lighter weight of the IC beaters now.Good to know I'm not the only one with the sticky IC rubber beater problem. That was highly annoying. Hopefully the wood doesn't do the same thing.
Members gcdrummer
Yea...my problem with the rubber beaters showed up in the studio. I ended up wrapping black tape around them so they were slick. Didn't effect the sound any. I was going to try the IC wood beaters, but I was afraid that the wood would break off. Members Drummy
Finally after seeing advertisments in magazines I got the SPEEDBALL beater and have to say I love it. I use a rubber speedball and has made my doubles and triplets and lot easier to play with 1 pedal.
