Members RobWild
I finally got my pay check cashed and am ready to buy some splash cymbal. I was thinking about the MAX Splash series, which come in 7", 9", and 11". However, I want to know if they are actually good or if they are cheap. I know Mike Portnoy uses them and they sound good, but what do they sound like before they are run through a gigantic mixing desk? Any reviews? Suggestions on other splashes? Thanks! Members slickrick1688
They cost about as much as any other splash. I would go and try them out first though to see if you like them (typical advice, i know).
Members RobWild
The only problem is that I don't know of anywhere around here that carries them.
Members slickrick1688
Do you have a guitar center or sam ash by you? They might carry them.

Members LowandLoudx97
Theyre cool , I own the 7 and 11 inch. They are very percussive and staccato sounding, they are great for accents and ect... Good quality also... never had issues

Members Drumr
To me it sounded tinny and cheap. I had heard some other drummer's splashes, and the Maxx just didn't really compare. Had I had 3 or 4 different splashes, it might have been useful in the mix of all of them, but alone, just kinda fell flat. Just my opinion too. The guy who bought it, loves it. I have zildjian 12" A splash that I love...more shimmery and sustained.
