Members Tosis Maguill
What is that rubber block thing that the drummer from As I Lay Dying uses for bass emphasis right before breakdowns? Where can you get one?

Members Tosis Maguill
I don't have a picture of it, but it looks like a big rubber block with a few wires coming out of it.. It's not a trigger, unless it's some type of "trigger" that I've never heard of.. He hits it with a stick and it's by his hi-hats.. I saw them last night and noticed it while they were micing up his set..
Members BLS_1
It could be a pad for an electric drumset. Or if his drums are triggered it could be an on/off "switch" for an effect for the rest of his kit.
Members Tosis Maguill
Nah, As I Lay Dying doesn't use triggers.. They do get a trigger effect from using two mics per bass drum and some other thing [it's explained in their FAQ on their website; hell, I'm not a drummer.. Haha] It may be a pad of some sort, but I just don't know.. The thing generates bass like a mother {censored}er though.
Members the DW
I believe what you are looking at is a Hart Dynamics Hammer pad. It's a single zone trigger with one cable output which goes into a module. Go to their website and see if this is what you are talking about. http://www.hartdynamics.com

Members Tosis Maguill
Yeah, I think that's it... I wish they had a sound sample or video though.. If anybody could find one, that'd be amazing.Thank you!
Members WillyRay
Well... it's driving a sound module of some sort, right? So the sound you're hearing isn't coming from the pad... If you're just interested in the SOUND, you can probably forget about the pad hardware and see if you can figure out what sound controller it's hooked to. Right? /willy
Members Tosis Maguill
Well, I guess you're right.. Hmmm. How will we discover that though? Maybe I should just write an email to their FAQ section or whatever and hope for the best.

Members armitage787
for listening to ASILD i think that it is a trigger that he uses to generate a low hz signal. Alot of music now-a-days is starting to use it. normally it is about 40-60hz and just lasts for about 1 or 2 beats.

Members Zeromus-X
Any cheap Roland pad with a sound module will get you the same thing. I use a rubber Roland pad, a MIDI converter, and an SP-808, which allows you to upload your own sounds to it. The bass sample that our guitarist found is ridiculous for it. Go to Google and search for an 808 sample, you'll find a ton of them.
