Members bengerm77
I've been thinking about getting one for a while, and I 've heard that they're louder and other things. What are your thoughts?

Members Thingfish
I wanted one, I got one, I liked it for a few weeks and then I got rid of it because it wasn't all that I wanted it to be.

Members FitchFY
I've never had the opportunity to play one other than a 7x14" Pork Pie at a Guitar Center... it sounded BIG and kinda weird... but I'm sure there are applications for it. Hey, Bonzo liked `em!

Hey, Bonzo liked `em! Not the snares. From the time of his natural maple kit until the stainless steel kit, Bonham used a 402 6.5x14 Supra. Members drumsdb
I think Bonzo liked Acrlyic because it was new and novelty in his time. I don't think it was because of their steller sound. Then again, Bonzo could make an array of Walmart Trash cans sound good! DB
Members sherman22
I don't feel about acrylic drums. I think they are a gimmick. I tried these DD diode acrylic, or whatever, they sounded like a water pale. I just don't buy. People seem to really dig the old 70's acrylics. They sound good when Bonham and Thomas Lange play them, but I just don't buy it. Sorry, buy a DW brass snare, you will not be dissapointed, also, I played a black panther the other day, and it was awsome, a maple one, and I like the Yamaha snares too. If you want acrylic, buy the shell pre drilled, and make it yourself, they are cheap, and keller shells make them. They are louder than you would think, they just don't sing like wood does.
