I'm looking for a moderately warm sound that is pretty resonant sound without excess overtones. I tried the coated G1, but it was a little too dark for me. Members SyntheticTubs Posted January 24, 2008 Members Share Posted January 24, 2008 Yep, think of the ec-1 clears as a slightly damped G-1 clear. It's definately punchy, and more open than the ec-1 coated. I am using the ec-1 coated now, they are thicker than a G-1 clear-with a coating on top of that. The ec-1's have plenty of low end as well. I might just go with coated G1's if these clear EC1's are too dead. I was just looking for a slightly brighter sound than a coated G1, but didn't want all the unnecessary overtones that come along with a single ply clear head.
