Members Chunkaway
How do you guys think that would sound? Anybody here tried it? Did it with my Ludwig Black Beauty, and it really dried up the drum. My band really liked it, but I thought it took some of the character out of the drum. I actually prefer die cast hoops on the drum instead. Dries it out a bit but not a ton.
Members cearleywine
if I had a brass snare I'd probably want wood or diecast hoops to dry it out a bit.
Members captainobvious
I would think it would take away some of that ring you get with a brass snare. Whether that's a good or bad thing, I guess would be up to you. I'm sure it would also tame the rimshots a bit.
Members cearleywine
Tame some of the overtones but wood hoops produce some fat rim shots.
