Members circuitbreaker
One of my best friends has gone to a lot of trouble to get my duo some pretty high-paying gigs >> private parties at $500 and also some corporate functions paying around $1500. There is no way we could have gotten these gigs on our own - he has all the connections and knows how to present our act. I don't have any prior experience with booking agents in general so I would like to know how much they usually expect to get for booking a gig? With my friend I'm inclined to be generous since it took some time and effort on his part to get us this work - so out of the $500 or $1500 we will get from these gigs how much do you think I should give my friend? Thanks for any advice - cb
Members BlueStrat
Standard booking fee is 10%. Some agents charge 15% for eveything over $2,000. Personal management could go as high as 20 or 25%, but that would mean he was handling your press, promo, and schedule, getting you radio interviews, etc etc.

Members kenm
If he is your friend, you might consider giving him an equal share of the money. Just split everything evenly between him and the band members. You play guitar, he books the gigs, believe me, he is providing you an very valuable service. Members readybeans
It's even more important to pay friends fairly than mere associates. Always keep your business very straight and every detail understood when doing business with friends.
