Members AlexMC
My g/f has expressed an interest in playing drums. I got her a very basic eDrum set (Yamaha DD-65) but she is finding it hard learning the basics from books and internet resources. I've offered to pay for some lessons but she would rather learn 'the absolute basics' first so she doesn't feel stupid (I feel differently and would go straight for lessons). The other day we came across some basic drum tutorials and exercises in XBox 360's Rock Band game... my g/f thinks it's worthwhile to use this to learn some fundamentals... I think it's not such a great idea - but it made me think: why couldn't we use our eDrum kit (connected via MIDI to our PC) to interact with similar exercises on PC? I.e. timing-based games and exercises which require you to enter MIDI notes from an eDrum set, and give you feedback on your rhythm and velocity. Does such software exist (preferably free or shareware)? It would be pretty simple to code...
