Members NeverTheMachine
I consider myself a pretty good live singer. I sing and play and seem to do best when I'm not thinking. For some reason, recording sessions where I'm recording vocals over a full band track don't go as easily. I usually don't execute as well, and I'm pretty sure most of that is mental stuff, but I'm wondering if there are other things to look out for, or suggestions you guys can make to make tracking go smoother. I think a technical reason could be that when I have headphones on I get more of the bass frequency in my head that might be "offsetting". I think a lot my trouble arises with recreating the natural, comfortable room sound within my monitors. My goal is to create a spontaneous, relaxed environment where I can just do 2,3 takes of my best, rather than laboring through 20-30 takes, punch-ins until the monotony transfers into the performance. THat's no good. Anyway, I figure this might be a good thread to open up for this forum for your suggestions.
Members Masklin
Keep the recording gear on as you rehearse before the 'actual take', and try to forget about the shining red lamp. It's not easy
