I want to buy one of these two heads but I don't have a chance to test it both at the same time. I have played Fafner and it sounds incredible. Do you have any real experience with comparing these two heads?

Thanks!

I have a Fafner for about 6 yrs. (the old model without the DI).

And use it a couple of times a week on stage. It's a great amp, very reliable. And it's diversity is fantastic, from clean "hifi eden like" sounds till "raw ampeg like" sounds.

There's only 1 amp on my wish list and thats an Ampeg SVTII

I've never tried the TD650 so I can't tell you anything about that one.

WELL. Turns out the amp is available from the DISTRIBUTOR not my dealer  which is about another 2000kms away.

How much you ask?

RRP $3399!!!!!!

The sales dude quoted me $2850.

I still want it but man. they dont make it easy.

I absolutely love my Fafner. It's one of those amps for a lifetime. VERY powerful and with lots of presence. As RonC said it can dial lots of different tones while being very user-friendly (just the necessary knobs, no more, no less...)

I haven't tried the TD650 but it's reckoned to be more hi-fi sounding than the Fafner. Specially favoured here by slap-crazy maniacs and metalheads around here.

^ damn man you've got some nice gear in your sig!

I'm not sure bout the TD650, though its a fair bit more expensive than the fafner. I just love what I keep hearing about the fafner it sounds exactly what I'm looking for, hopefully I will soon be one of the only owners down under ;)
