Members partagas17 Posted May 19, 2005 Members Posted May 19, 2005 I just got my hands on a Gibson Grabber(mid 70s) off of ebay. I'm running through an ampeg svt4 pro head and a peavy 810 cab. I really don't like the sound I'm getting. I'd like more growl. If I put EMGs in it could I get a better sound? If so which emgs would you suggest?
Members syrinx Posted May 19, 2005 Members Posted May 19, 2005 the only value in that bass is its originality- that being the moving pickup. If you alter that, the value is negligible. Try the old eq pedal or whatever else- or get another bass. Of course if this is a beater, well have at it!
Members partagas17 Posted May 19, 2005 Author Members Posted May 19, 2005 what about an ibanez tube screamer? i've read that the sound gets considerably warmer using these. i know they're designed for guitar but the bass played from thrice uses one. the only other problem i see with them is the fact the i'm using a svt4 pro which isn't a tube(except for preamp) head. what do you think?
