Members Immy
I used some from Pyramid Strings. They sound great on my Epiphone (hofner copy). They're all had made and each string has a slightly different tone. I like them alot! They're supposed to be what Paul McCartney uses on his Hofner. But I don't really know for sure. I'd have to be constantly taking it off, putting it back on - and I don't have the money for two P-bass', so I suppose I'm gonna have to syncopate and mute etc... to get the feel rather than the precise effect. Jamerson is just one of my many bass heroes btw You don't need anything fancy for a mute. Roll up a piece of cloth, borrow a hair 'scrunchie', or find a spare piece of foam and jam it under the strings near the bridge. I use a piece of carpet padding foam about 1/2" x 1/2" that's just wider than the strings. It's quick to install and remove and doesn't require any other adjustments.
