At some point the families became aware of the mix-up, but decided to ignore it, since they loved the families they'd grown up with.Maze's Biological's parent's "child" died I think in her early teens, and they then decided to sue to get Kimerbly back as their real child.The whole thing erupted into a giant mess with Kimberly moving back and forth between the two families with no clue what to do. This was around 1995-1996, if I remember correctly. I think Kimberly was around 16 at the time.Poor girl got extremely confused and eventually I heard that she just got married and moved out (still as a teenager).This was one of the biggest news stories of the year, but now I can't find any info on it at all. I'm pretty sure the name is right, but the only google hits I'm getting are for a pornstar by that name--since I'm at work, I can't get any more info on that one, either.I just watched some movie on TV (Yep, also at work) with Michelle Pfeiffer and Whoopie Goldberg about a similar case and it got me thinking about this again. Kim ended up suing the Twigg's in 1991 so she could legally call Mr. Mays her real father. She ended up running away from him. If you are still interested in some info on this, I might be able to get it for you. I am friends with a few people in the twigg family, and I went to school with Kim a few times. The first thing I do want to say is it is Twigg, not Twiggs. Kim was a really nice girl with a lot of problems. if you want I can talk to someone in the Twigg family to see if they have heard anything from Kim. A few people from the Twigg still keep contact with her.
