pushing a bass amp = good/bad idea?

or does it depend on the amp?

cause i would think that saturating the power amp on a bass amp would be just as effective if not more than on a guitar amp, in making it sound more full-toned... especially with distortion..

but when i try to push either solidstate amp i have (which i actually HAVE to do at practice, next to two tube guitar amps), everything about their sound turns to {censored}... farty, crackly, eww

so would this be different on a tube bass amp? or does bass just need headroom always?

no pushing for you then. the SVT 3 pro has a ss power amp.

IIRC the only ones with a tube power amp are the SVT CL, the SVT AV, the SVT VR, the V-4BH, and the SVT 2 pro

out of the heads
