Members Kentrel
I can sing in pitch, but have generally poor tone. When I sing in my comfortable range, and add rasp my tone sounds amazing, compared to the way it sounds singing normally. The upside is that it gives songs I sing a real nice flavour, I can sing higher more comfortably, my upper range sounds better. The downside is that I sound like Nickelback. I want to be able to understand what exactly my voice is doing so I can apply the relevant exercises from my Singing CDs better. Can someone explain what exactly my voice is doing when I "add rasp", why its giving it a better tone, makes my entire range sound better, and how I can achieve good tone without it. Not that its a bad thing, its just that it makes Jason Mraz style songs sound weird, and I don't want to have to rely on it just to have an interesting sounding voice. Members Dthraco
Are you using any vibrato on your clean voice? That can really spice up a clean voice and add depth and interest.

Yes, but my vibrato isn't powerful yet. I do have some unwanted vibrato\warbling at certain points, and I focus on vibrato exercises regularly, so its getting better.
