Members DammitJanet
I want to get the GFS PB Pro P Bass style pickup for my new SX shortscale P-Bass (from RondoMusic). Thing is, they offer both a vintage and an overwound option. I was planning on getting a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder initially, but I like the price of these better, so what would you all suggest? I'll mostly be playing rock and pop, with the occasional punk rocker for good measure. :-)
Members oldivor
Personally I'd go for the overwound sound, but I use tube heads and like a lot of treble in my sound. The vintage one will sound smooth, but the overwound one will sound more alive and a higher output if I guess right.

Members bassplayinguy
Id say overwound too, I like the aggresive sound, especially on a P bass. Pbass should have balls! BTW, I have GFS pickups in my Tokai PRS knockoff and love them. Great bang for the buck!
Members mark7171
for about $25 bones you can get a seymour duncan alnico Sledge Hammer. it is a copy of its own, popular, seymour Duncan 1/4 lb-er. the QP is quiet at rest, colourful, and has legendary power. then id do the fender P bass wiring upgrade, and add a orange drop .022 uf? cap. if you go through a catalog house like mouser, then get 2 full size 250 o pots as well.
